曾有調查指出，iPhone在日本的銷售市占率過半，為其市場上最受歡迎的手機。月前又有報導指出，在日本竟有高達六成的女高中生，認為「不用iPhone就會被排擠」，造成了部分家長因為害怕小孩在學校遭到同儕霸凌，就算買不起iPhone的新機，也要買二手的或是型號較舊的iPhone給他們充數。
報導指出，許多日本女子高中生很喜歡用iPhone，不僅是因為「很潮、很時尚」，還因為「不用iPhone就會被排擠」，但並不限定必須是最新款的機型，只要是iPhone就可以了。為了讓自己和他人一樣，就算零用錢不夠，也通常會要求父母幫自己買iPhone；而部分父母們為了不讓自己的小孩在學校被同儕霸凌，就算買不起最新機型，也會花錢買較舊的款式。
報導還提到，受訪的女高中生們紛紛表示，會十分羨慕擁有最新型號iPhone的人；而如果自己身邊的朋友都用iPhone，自己卻不用，就會很奇怪，也無法跟大家討論手機用法、以及推薦的App應用程式等等。
